News from Councilwoman Shanae Williams – Yonkers

Hello friends,
The City Council is wrapping up the legislative year with our last meeting this week Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 7pm. We have accomplished a lot despite the ongoing pandemic – from balancing a $1.25 billion dollar budget and providing a record number of funds for the children in our public schools, to repaving several streets throughout the city and also taking a hard look at our affordable housing issue which brought us close to a more permanent solution. In the new year, we will continue to do all we can to bring meaningful change to our community that will improve the quality of life for all.
For many of us, the holidays are already here, but for some, it has yet to begin. I am humbly asking you to help make this holiday season a special one for those who are less fortunate. This year, the YWCA of Yonkers, a non-profit 501c3, is seeking a Christmas Tree donation and any new toy donations that we the community can provide so that they can present them to over 100 children from our community. If you would like to contribute, please contact the Mitzi Walker from the YWCA at mwalker@ywcayonkers.org.
Additionally, there are a number of community organizations hosting holiday events, please take a look at the upcoming events section below and feel free to join the festivities.
Peace and blessings to you!
Sincerely,
Shanae V. Williams
